Athletics Is Finally Here
Finally. I’ve been waiting all year for this particular day. My house is called weka. The colour red. I am a year five. Year fives are the fifth people to run. I looked around and Weka was winning. When it was our turn to race, Lucy was in the front of line. I was in the middle. Eva was at the end. When the gunshot I saw Lucy’s feet spring up. She sped off faster than a rocket. My turn was coming up. My heart struck against my body. When I had the batton I ran for my life. I turn around back to my teammates. The cone behind the line of our team is the part I slipped. I slipped once, and slipped again because of losing balance. My turn was over. I sat down cheering my lungs out. When the race was finished, we celebrated. Weka won the year 5 race. Victory. My dad said that because of me, Eva and Lucy we won. He said that we were all tying, but when I ran, I bet them. I have to consider, that was the fastest I've ever ran in my life.
